In addition, the school will be providing Daily Agendas for all the students. The agenda is an excellent tool to keep you aware of homework assignments, upcoming events, etc. Here's where you can help. Look on the page with the current day/date and check to see that your child has written down his/her homework assignments. Please make it a habit to read the daily notes/assignments that your child has written in the planner. (Students are given ample time to write down assignments. This section should never be bland.) There is a box for parent/teacher communication. Please sign your name in this box each day. This lets me know that you have looked over the planner with your child, and are aware of homework assignments , behavior, and upcoming events. This box is also where you can write me a quick note if needed. If you write a note in the planner, please let you child know so I will be sure to read it.
Due to time constraints during the day, it is difficult for me to go through 20 or so student agendas daily. (If I just spent one minute on each child, it would take a chunk out of our learning time.) THis is why I really need your help.
Check the appropriate student planner page for homework assignments, classroom events and information. This is also where we can write notes back and forth to each other. Initial or sign the daily block.
Check the homework pocket for homework assignments and classwork that needs to be completed. Please check to be sure your child is writing down homework assignments. I write the assignments on the overhead and give the students plenty of time to copy them down. It is the responsibility of all students to write down the information as I write it down. At the end of the day, I just don’t have time to walk around and check planner pages. (A blank planner page is probably a sign of off task behavior.)
Please check for notes home. Read them, respond if needed, and place them back in the appropriate pocket. You can place excuse notes, etc. in this pocket also.
Please don't forget to sign your name on the appropriate day in the planner book as well as on your child’s behavior sheet (if needed)
